Stupid Golf Question

What is club path?

The simulator says your path is positive or negative without explaining the direction

Plain answer first

The plain answer

Club path measures whether the clubhead is traveling left, right, or along the target line at impact. On many systems, positive means right of target and negative means left, but confirm the monitor's convention and player handedness.

The NPG answer

It is where the club was traveling, not where you hoped the ball would go.

When it matters

It matters because the relationship between club path and face angle helps explain the ball's curve.

What to do next

Hit several shots and compare club path with face angle and the curve you actually see.

Do this next

What is face angle?

Face angle is where the clubface is pointing relative to the target line at impact.
