Stupid Golf Question

What is a draw?

Someone admires your draw and you thought the ball just moved left on purpose

Plain answer first

The plain answer

For a right-handed golfer, a draw curves gently from right to left. For a left-handed golfer, it curves gently from left to right. It is a controlled shape, unlike a hook, which turns more sharply and is usually unplanned.

The NPG answer

A draw turns toward you without filing a missing-ball report.

When it matters

It matters when describing your normal ball flight or shaping a shot around a target, tree line, or dogleg.

What to do next

Track the starting line, amount of curve, and finish so you can separate a repeatable draw from a hook.

Do this next

What is a hook?

A hook is an uncontrolled shot that curves sharply toward the golfer.
